Once you know what to expect, you can go ahead and Claim a refund based upon the terms and conditions of your ticket. Subject to the terms and conditions of your ticket, you may also Request a refund for any extras you've purchased that relate to your flight, like upgrades or excess baggage.
Please note that our Customer Centres cannot book additional luggage.
If you'd like to bring more than your free bag allowance, or if you've bought an Economy Light ticket and decided you need a bag after all, you can add up to 7 extra bags per person when you check in online.
Online check-in opens 24 hours before your flight is due to depart and closes 70 minutes before.
You can also pay for extra bags at the airport. it costs the same, but the limit is 10 bags per person.

Can’t find an upgrade option online?

Bid for an upgrade
If you're thinking of upgrading (hey, why wouldn’t you?) you can make us an offer on Your Bid, our online auction for upgrades. If your bid is accepted, you could very well score yourself a swanky new seat.
- All bids will be assessed between 7 and 2 days prior to the scheduled departure date of your flight. If you have a winning bid, you will be notified by email.
- If there are multiple passengers in your booking you have to bid to upgrade all passengers. The amount you bid will be on a per passenger basis. For example, if you have a party of four and you wish to bid £100 for an upgrade, you will have to bid £400.

The easiest and best option to make a change is to log into My Booking and click or tap on the red web chat icon at the bottom of your screen.
If your flight has been impacted, we'll proactively contact you with the alternative options available to you, including rebooking you where possible on to another of our services, departing on the same day, to ensure you can still travel as planned. There's no need to contact us right now.

If you've legally or officially changed your name We can amend your ticket free of charge. We just need to see the supporting documentation, such as your marriage certificate, to prove you are the same person. If you’re on your honeymoon or you get married while you’re away, it’s ok to travel under your maiden name. The key thing is that the name on your booking and ticket matches the name on your passport. Alternatively, you call us If you booked through a travel agent, please contact them directly. Virgin Atlantic is governed by the rules of other airlines so if name change is linked to another airline we cannot guarantee they will accept free of charge changes. Flight + Hotel bookings operated by Virgin Atlantic Holidays The lead passenger on your booking can Get in touch with our Customer Service team to amend or cancel your booking. You will be advised of any additional costs for the new arrangements and any applicable amendment charges. A new invoice will be sent to you once confirmed. To cancel a booking or remove someone from your booking, the lead passenger must notify us of the cancellation in writing, quoting the booking reference and if possible, the reasons for cancelling.
